Job Description

Mirantis is seeking a Junior Technical Writer to join the Mirantis documentation team. The right candidate will have the technical background and communication skills needed to write highest-quality documentation for our products. The right candidate will also have familiarity with Git and will be able to hit the ground running in a Docs-as-Code documentation environment. Are you that person?

As a Mirantis documentation content developer, you will be a part of a global team of technical writers, working alongside product managers and engineers to plan, develop, refactor, publish, and maintain the company’s product documentation.

The ideal candidate will have both a technical background that enables them to easily interact with software developers and product managers, and a demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality technical content.

Responsibilities

• Develop, update, and maintain the product documentation including reference architectures, user guides, deployment guides, API and CLI references, and diagrams.
• Edit copy for voice, tone, and accuracy.
• Collaborate with the engineering and SI teams on matters of schedule, documentation requirements, completeness, and accuracy, in creating documentation content.
• Analyze existing and potential content, focusing on reuse and single-sourcing opportunities.
• Write and/or edit code samples to support documentation.
• Partner with the documentation team members to peer review the documentation changes.
• Follow the Mirantis best practices and style guidelines in the documentation development process.
  

Qualifications

• 3 years minimum in a technical writing role. Experience in any role, as part of a traditional product delivery, will be a plus.
• Bachelor Degree in English or technology, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills. Attention to detail.
• Experience working in a Docs-as-Code environment.
• Strong research skills and the ability to pick up new technical concepts quickly.
• The ability to give and receive feedback, work collaboratively with other team members to arrive at the best possible experience for the product users.
• Experience working and collaborating remotely with globally-dispersed writing and development teams.
• Demonstrable experience designing and delivering IT pro/developer-oriented documentation.
  

Technical skills:

• Command line
• Software version control systems (Git/github, gerrit)
• Content management systems (Sphinx)
• Markdown or RST
• Basics of Kubernetes and Docker
