We are looking for a Developer Advocate to help us build a great and inclusive community for OpenSearch - an open source search and analytics suite derived from Apache 2.0 licensed Elasticsearch 7.10.2 & Kibana 7.10.2. This role will help us make OpenSearch the de facto choice for users that previously had relied upon open source Elasticsearch. As a Developer Advocate, you will play a central role in helping us building a vibrant community of users and contributors.

As a Developer Advocate, you will part of the larger technical leadership community at Amazon.
This position represents a unique and rare opportunity to get in on the ground floor with a vital open source initiative, within a fast growing business and help shape the technology, product and open source community. A successful candidate will bring deep technical and software expertise, excellent communication and writing skills, a strong foundation in working with open source communities, sound judgment, a desire to have an industry wide impact, and the ability to work within a fast moving, startup environment in a large company to rapidly improvements.
Position Responsibilities:
· Work with community members to help them be successful with OpenSearch
· Build and maintain communication channels and messaging for promoting OpenSearch to the community
· Responsible for managing technical blogs and educational content for the community
· Help build out community events and meetups to drive community collaboration
· Work directly with our product and engineering teams to drive OpenSearch forward based on feedback from community members
· Help us continue to raise the bar in building OpenSearch in an open and community friendly way that builds trust and confidence
· Demonstrate high levels of creativity and right judgments, most of the time

· Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
· 5+ years of technical writing, product marketing, product management or developer advocacy experience with technical products
· Must have excellent communication skills with both internal and external audiences on both a technical and non-technical level
· Experience working with open source communities and evangelism a big plus
·
· Experience as a published writer on technical subject matter a big plus
·
· Experience working with customer facing solutions architect or support roles a big plus
· Experience with distributed systems, log analytics, and machine learning in analytical systems a big plus
